Massage Therapy & Craniosacral Therapy

Massage therapy is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage therapy does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles just under the skin, its benefits may also reach the deeper layers of muscle and possibly even the organs themselves. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

The central guiding principle of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is that there are forces in the body that are constantly trying to move our bodies in the direction of health and healing. It has been called Lifeforce, Chi or the Health of the body systems. As we go through life, physical and emotional stressors create barriers to the full expression of this vital energy.  Through BCST, I can locate these barriers and help your body remove them so that the Health of your body can express itself more completely.

Iridology/Sclerology

Iridology is the study of the iris, or colored part of the eye. Its overall apperaance, plus specific fiber arrangement and pigment details reveal an incredible amount of information about you in a non-invasive manner.

While iridology or iris analysis is useful to determine what you've inherited for strengths and weakness, sclerology, the study of the whites of the eyes, reveals where there are current congestions. Put both analyses together and you have some very potent information about your health.

How it is done: We take pictures of your eyes then bring those pictures up onto the computer screen so we can look at them together. We then have a conversation about just what the eyes are telling us as it correlates to the story about your health and the health of your parents, grandparents, and siblings.

Our iridologist/sclerologist is Marie Bouvier-Newman. Marie is a doctoral candidate at Clayton College of Natural Health where she is studying herbs, homeopathy, nutrition and other natural approaches to health. She teaches classes, consults with customers and does presentations for a variety of organizations regarding the natural approach to health.

Ear Candling / Coning

Ear candling/coning involves the burning of a long hollow tube as it rests in your ear. This ancient technique has been shown to be beneficial for some people in that it may provide relief from sinus pressure, cleaning of the ear canal, relief from ringing in the ear, headaches, and improved hearing. It may also cleanse auric bodies, provide energy release, and help with swimmer's ear and other ear challenges.

Marie Bouvier-Newman, Ron Newman, and Paul Fitzgibbons, ND, Ph.D are certified in ear candling.

We also offer certification classes in ear candling/coning. While this is a therapy the may be done at home, it is wise to have training in the proper ways to administer this therapy and to become cognizant of the safety precautions.

Naturopathic Consultations

A naturopathic doctor is trained in the many natural approaches to health. He considers the whole person when suggesting natural and holistic ways to maintain or regain health.

Our naturopath is Paul Fitzgibbons, ND, Ph.D also has a master's degree in chemistry and is a trained and active emergency medical technician (EMT).

Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet corresponding to all glands, organs, and systems of the body. Reflexology therefore is a complementary therapy which works on the feet (hands too) to benefit the whole person not just prevailing symptoms. Reflexologists therefore use a series of pressure techniques to stimulate specific reflex areas on the feet and hands with the intention of invoking a beneficial response in other parts of the body.

Cheryl Tyler is a trained and experienced reflexologist who incorporates energy work into her very relaxing reflexology sessions.

Reiki

Reiki is Universal Life-giving Energy and can be used for all purposes, conditions and situations. It can be safely used at any time, in any place and for any purpose. To practice or receive Reiki, no faith or belief is required. It is for everyone.

Reiki energy balances and harmonizes. If there is too much energy in an area, or if there is not enough, the area is out of balance and when there is imbalance, there is potential for illness. In a balanced state, the individual has the potential for self-healing.

Heather Mowry is a certified Master level Usui Reiki Practitioner and Teacher.  She received her Master level attunement with Myra Partyka.  Heather is eager to expand her practice with the intention of benefiting those with emotional, physical and spiritual challenges through the healing touch of Reiki.
